  • Demonstrate the competences of the Visitor Competency Framework
  • Act with integrity, in line with the EAEVE Code of Conduct
  • Have adequate written and spoken English, the working language of ESEVT visitations
  • Hold a recommendation from the Head of a Veterinary Education Establishment (VEE), or for practitioners from the Board of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), confirming an active and current link to a VEE or to veterinary practice

Time commitment

  • Typically one visitation per year, notified at least six months in advance
  • Five working days on site plus travel, and about another week of pre- and post-visitation work
  • A declaration of no conflict of interest before each visitation
  • Experts are not paid; the costs of the visitation are covered by the VEE being evaluated. Whether the time counts as part of your job should be agreed with your employer

New Experts are prepared through an e-learning programme and mentored by experienced Coordinators, Chairpersons and senior colleagues during their first visitations, with continuing professional development organised by EAEVE.
